As a freelancer I recently I jumped in and helped out in talent acquisition for a client project at Key Content. This isn’t the first time I’ve worked with Key Content. Our paths crossed during my years at Sixt rent a car when we used to order content (obviously) from them in many different languages. It was nice to get reacquainted again.
When exactly did I slide into content writing and content marketing? I’m not quite sure, but texts and writing have been a part of my tasks since ‘forever’. It was only natural to make the full transition on my arrival in Berlin (2013). In all honesty I’ve had more of an editorial role. Although, many posts here show that I have written quite a few SEO texts in my day, and even blogged for clients.
Key Content – Inside Out
In this case it has been interesting to see – from the inside this time – how the company and the content business work. As I mentioned in my post about Sixt rent a car, I had a good working relationship with Key Content back then, but I was never directly in contact with any writers. That now changed. The project was at a critical stage and to suit the high-profile client’s needs, we had to find and sign premium writers – fast.
Acquiring Talent
The client must of course be kept anonymous, but the job inclined contacting new writers, journalists and specialists in the topic in question. Part of a small team, I had to play the detective and google people to get in touch with. Next, I had to help them through the registration process (if they were available), and keep track of every step, topic and person with the help of Asana.
It was a fun job and I enjoyed reading about all the talented writers out there. Some have spectacular online portfolios. That really inspired me to give it a go and pursue a career in writing. Who knows were it might take me…
